Estate Notes

Château Leoville Barton 2000 was one of Decanter Magazine's Wines of the Year; and was rated an impressive 97 points by Wine Spectator - a truly great Bordeaux vintage.

Leoville Barton is owned and run by the congenial and charismatic Anthony Barton with the help of his daughter Lilian, who have succeeded in maintaining its well deserved reputation for producing top-flight Bordeaux.

There are few Bordeaux estates today that consistently receive such favourable press from journalists and consumers alike, yet remain such good value-for-money. Léoville Barton is one such château. It is always a pleasure meeting the current proprietor, Anthony Barton, who is one of a few people in recent years to have been outspoken over the idea that Bordeaux should produce wines for pleasure, as opposed to wines as investment vehicles.

"Amazingly rich and silky. Lots of chocolate and blackberry aromas with hints of raspberries. Full-bodied, with silky, round tannins. Great concentration. Long, long finish. This is the biggest, most powerful ever from Léoville Barton." Wine Spectator
