Estate Notes

Château Lafleur produces Bordeaux of superb concentration, richness and rare elegance, only found in Pomerol's very best produce.

Lafleur is a tiny estate of just 4.5 hectares neighbouring Château Pétrus, and one of a handful of Pomerol estates that sits fractionally below Pétrus in Bordeaux quality terms. Lafleur has belonged to the Robin family since the turn of the 20th century, who cultivate its vines (average age 40 years) with minimum fertilisation and produce low yields of exceptional quality.

Reviews

"This wine is a brilliant success, it is one of the stars of the vintage. Lafleur's 1999 is atypically powerful and concentrated, with an inky, saturated purple color followed by a sensational nose of black cherry jam intermixed with liquid minerals, raspberries, and licorice. It is super concentrated, extraordinarily pure, with moderately high tannin. This dense, powerful, impressively endowed wine should turn out to be a classic for Lafleur." eRobertParker.com

"Château Lafleur is a wine that garners an almost unequalled reverence among wine-cognoscenti. Somewhat over-shadowed by Pétrus, Christian Moueix himself has confessed that Lafleur offers the greatest challenge to its supremacy. In my opinion, they are equal, but very different." eRobertParker.com
