Estate Notes

La Clotte's 2006 vintage offers fleshy, full-bodied Bordeaux drinking, with plenty of development still to come.

2006 was a good to very good Bordeaux vintage, but with considerable variation in quality within and between districts. Not as good as 2005, but the equal of the 2004 vintage. A winemaker’s vintage and knowing your producers is key. Those (like La Clotte) who prospered picked early (before the rains) and/or severely restricted their yields through crop thinning, plus strict blend selection.

Reviews

"La Clotte’s 2006 is a sexy, dense, deep ruby/purple-hued wine possessing plenty of black cherry and black raspberry fruit, hints of licorice and dusty, loamy soil, and subtle background oak. Fleshy and medium to full-bodied with a distinct earthy component in the mid-palate, this is a lush, succulent St.-Emilion…his wine has taken off in quality over the last several years, revealing a deeper richness and broader texture.” eRobertParker.com
