"The 2018 Ferrière is a dark, virile Margaux. Inky fruit, spice, leather, lavender, licorice, gravel and dark spice add to a feeling of gravitas. Powerful and muscular, the 2018 is going to need a number of years to fully unwind." Antonio Galloni

Château Ferrière boasts the style and class of Margaux, without having to raid the piggy bank – a boutique operation of just 8 hectares – and the Médoc's smallest Grand Cru Classé. Ferrière's ambitious owner, Claire Villars, has taken what was one of the Médoc's greatest disappointments to dizzying heights of quality and value-for-money in just two decades. Benefiting from a great terroir, Ferrière typically produces elegant, silky wines of real finesse.

"The 2018 Ferrière is a dark, virile Margaux. Inky fruit, spice, leather, lavender, licorice, gravel and dark spice add to a feeling of gravitas. Powerful and muscular, the 2018 is going to need a number of years to fully unwind. Yields are down from an average of 45 hectoliters per hectare to just 26, which no doubt contributes to the wine's natural intensity. That comes through in the wine's flavor profile, structural feel and huge tannins." Antonio Galloni
