Estate Notes

Château Ferrière 2011 was purchased in its original wooden case and boasts the style and class of Margaux, without having to raid the piggy bank – a boutique operation of just 8 hectares – and the Médoc’s smallest Grand Cru Classé.

Ferrière’s ambitious owner, Claire Villars, has taken what was one of the Médoc’s greatest disappointments to dizzying heights of quality and value-for-money in just two decades. Benefiting from a great terroir, Ferrière produces elegant, silky wines of real finesse.

"Supple, with light iron and black tea hints weaving through the plum, black cherry and cassis flavors...pretty." Wine Spectator

“Deep ruby-purple. Delicate, perfumed nose of fresh blackberry, plum and minerals lifted by violet. Fresh and pure, with a stony edge to the floral and peppery black fruit flavors. Building tannins remain civilized and don't overwhelm the palate.” Ian D-Agata
