Estate Notes

Château Duhart-Milon-Rothschild 2013 remains remarkably well priced compared to its neighbours.

Duhart-Milon, which is owned by Domaines Barons de Rothschild, is one of the few properties in the 1855 classification to lack a château; and the wine is actually finished off in a large warehouse.

But despite this lack of grandeur, the quality of the produce, as with many estates under the distinguished Rothschild stable, is very high; then again with neighbours such as Châteaux Lafite Rothschild and Mouton Rothschild in this northern part of Pauillac - this is the least we should expect from such high quality soils. Duhart-Milon's wines lean towards the rather elegant, restrained style with great balance and real finesse.

"Consumers should keep an eye on this estate as their wines are getting better and better…This charming blend of 80% Cabernet Sauvignon and 20% Merlot reveals plenty of red and black currant fruit, a clean, pure mouthfeel, modest body and undeniable finesse as well as elegance."

"A tangy-edged version, with a blood orange note amid the red currant and raspberry coulis flavors, featuring prominent savory and bay notes that emerge steadily through the finish." Wine Spectator

"Aromas of raspberry, minerals and violet. Clean and silky but penetrating, with slightly austere flavors of dark berries and minerals. Juicy, firmly built and nicely delineated, in Duhart's not particularly sweet style. Finishes with dusty, firm tannins, good persistence and a flinty nuance." Ian d'Agata
