Estate Notes

Château Ducru-Beaucaillou 2004 comes from a a classic Bordeaux vintage, a return to the more traditional style of elegance and finesse.

Ducru-Beaucaillou is right at the top of the ladder in Saint-Julien, and it is known as a 'Super Second' – a second growth producing wines equal or superior to the illustrious first growths. Ducru-Beaucaillou is named after the beautiful stones (beaux cailloux) found in its unique wine-growing soils, and the château is managed by the affable and welcoming Bruno-Eugene Borie, whose family has owned the estate for 60 years.

Reviews

“One can’t say enough about the efforts Bruno Borie is pouring into this wonderful estate that I have often called the “Lafite Rothschild of St.-Julien.” An undeniable success, the 2004 Ducru boasts sweet aromas of creme de cassis, spring flowers, pain grille, licorice, and road tar. This pure, medium-bodied wine possesses moderately high tannin, superb concentration, good sweetness, and low acidity.” Robert Parker

"Gorgeous aromas of crushed blackberry and currant. Full-bodied, with ultrafine tannins and a long, caressing finish. This is a Ducru with reserve and lots of finesse." Wine Spectator
