Chateau Doisy Daene 2eme Cru Classe, Barsac, Bordeaux, France 2005
"The palate is very well balanced with beautifully judged acidity...an excellent Doisy-Daene from Denis Dubourdieu." robertparker.com
|Grape Blend||Sauvignon Blanc, Sémillon|
Château Doisy-Daëne 2005 comes from a great Sauternes vintage and was purchased in its original wooden case.
Château Doisy-Daëne produces a great second growth Sauternes and the 2005 vintage was crafted when the late Denis Dubourdieu (who died in 2016) was in charge of an estate that had been in his family since 1924. Denis, more than any other winemaker, totally revolutionised the making of white wine in the Bordeaux region with his classic maceration pelliculaire. This great wine man and scientist was known as the pope of white wine and professor of Bordeaux for his skill and dedication in championing white wines in a region dominated by reds. An increasingly rare wine given its heritage and from an estate that often produces similar quality and style to d'Yquem, without the price tag, the 2005 is a 'must buy' for lovers of Sauternes.

"The 2005 Château Doisy-Daëne has a very attractive nose with perfumed apricot blossom, white peach and honey all infused with cold stone scents. The palate is very well balanced with beautifully judged acidity. This feels harmonious in the mouth, almost Coutet-like in style with a long, lightly spiced finish. This is an excellent Doisy-Daene from Denis Dubourdieu." robertparker.com
