Château Cassagne-Haut-Canon's La Truffière 2014 (magnum) is a brilliant fine red wine value; a relatively early drinking right bank Canon-Fronsac, which is drinking beautifully right now, with plenty more development to come in bottle.
La Truffière is Cassagne Haut-Canon's top wine. It refers to the truffles found on the estate by the owners' dog. The château, a rather charming farmhouse, is perched on a Fronsac hilltop, with wonderful views over the Dordogne. They often say that wines reflect the winemaker's personality, and Jean-Jacques Dubois is a serious, sensitive man, who cares passionately that his fine red wines reflect the very best of his superbterroir.
Ripe red/blackcurrant fruit with touches of woodsmoke, truffle, clove and an elegant, creamy, mocha, spicy character pervading both the aromatic development and palate. Harmonious and well-balanced with sappy tannins, a mineral freshness and floral lift on the impressively persistent finish, overlaying the sucrosity of ripe fruits. A real delight now, yet with more to come...
"Fronsac is one of Bordeaux's unsung wine regions with a noble history, some great wine terroirs...Fronsac can offer some superb value." Jancis Robinson MW
