Château Branaire-Ducru 2009 comes from a great Bordeaux vintage.

Château Branaire-Ducru is a 4th growth Bordeaux very much on the up in recent times, since Patrick Maroteaux bought this Saint-Julien château in 1988. His son, François-Xavier Maroteaux, now continues his excellent work.

Patrick's wise investment made Branaire-Ducru an estate to watch, with its prices remaining very reasonable, easily out-performing its neighbour Beychevelle. Branaire-Ducru's low-yielding 35-year-old vines produce fine red wines of power, elegance and subtlety.

"The 2009 Branaire-Ducru has a medium to deep garnet color and reveals compelling notions of warm cassis, licorice, baked plums and hoisin with hints of sautéed herbs and pencil lead. Youthful and medium to full-bodied, it has a generous core of black fruits with a firm and grainy structure and bags of freshness, finishing long with great purity." robertparker.com
