Akarua, Brut, Non-Vintage, Central Otago, New Zealand
Akarua Sparkling Brut NV is a traditional blend of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay from Akarua's 50 hectare estate on Cairnmuir Road, Bannockburn, in Central Otago.
This premium fine wine region is mountainous, rising to over 2000 metres, and the vines are planted in spectacular alpine scenery. Here, the philosophy is to reflect the special characters of both the Bannockburn terroir, and capture the unique qualities of each Pinot vintage so that they are truly reflected in each bottle.
Fruit for the Sparkling Brut from several blocks were hand harvested and vinified separately to preserve their character. Some ageing took place in old French oak, before blending and bottling with yeast and a precise amount of sugar for secondary fermentation..
