Estate Notes

Carter Cellars' Three Kings Cabernet Sauvignon 2012 comes from a world class terroir and one of the Napa's finest boutique estates - expressing superb power, concentration, and richness.

The Three Kings Cabernet yields from fruit grown on the Three Kings section of the great 'Beckstoffer To Kalon' vineyard, towards the Mayacamas range; another historic Napa Vineyard, which Carter snapped up in 2010. The vineyard is planted with old vines of a high quality Cabernet Sauvignon (the classic Napa clone 7) strain, which has seen a renaissance in recent years - combining superb balance and concentration which successfully expresses the richness and power that is the hallmark of 'To Kalon' wine.

"Another killer effort is the 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer To Kalon Vineyard The Three Kings. It’s splitting hairs at this level of quality, but this cuvée achieved 14.8% natural alcohol compared to its siblings’ 14.9%. You certainly can’t tell that in the glass. In fact, you would be hard pressed to believe it was over 13% given the wealth of fruit and layered texture. Abundant blue and black fruit, licorice, graphite and spice notes are present in this beautiful Pauillac-like Napa Valley wine.

"One of my favorite tiny boutique wineries in Napa Valley is Carter Cellars. They have been on a fabulous qualitative roll lately, and there are high expectations for the 2012s and 2013s. I can’t say enough about these offerings from Carter Cellars." Robert Parker
