Northern Rhône

The finest Syrah in the world is grown in the steep narrow valleys sides of the northern Rhône producing typically full-bodied, tanninc wines with impressive longevity. Here, world-famous appellations, including Côte Rôtie (lit. roasted slope), Hermitage, Crozes-Hermitage, and Cornas host some of France’s finest producers, the likes of Paul Jaboulet Aîné, Chapoutier, Rene Rostaing and Domaine Yann Chave.

It’s hard to believe that there was once a time when the red wines of the Hermitage were used to bolster thinner wines from Bordeaux and Burgundy, when they now have a similar quality to those that they formerly doctored and, in some cases, reputations to match.
