Vosne-Romanée

Vosne-Romanée is a tiny commune in the Côte de Nuits, accounting for some of the finest and most expensive red Burgundy and the greatest number of top vineyards in the Côte d’Or; its wines characteristically being renowned for being intensely rich, fruity and floral yet with real finesse; complex and ephemeral, yet fine-grained in texture.

Vosne-Romanée produces village wines and also boasts 14 Premier Cru vineyards and eight Grand Cru vineyards (three of which include the suffix Romanée, to which the village of Vosne appended its name in 1866), including the tiny Grand Crus of La Romanée-Conti (a monopoly of the legendary Domaine de la Romanée-Conti). The wines of neighbouring Flagey-Echézeaux are also considered part of Vosne-Romanée, including Echézeaux. No white wines are produced in Vosne-Romanée.
