New Zealand

New Zealand's wine scene has literally come from nowhere in the early 1970s to be at the forefront of innovative, environmentally friendly, sustainable winegrowing, and is renowned for its fine single varietal wines. Great soils, plus great, non-interventionist winemaking, produces great wine.
Pinot Noir and Sauvignon Blanc are, of course, New Zealand’s signature grape varieties, but the scene is constantly evolving, with boutique wineries producing word-class wines from the likes of Riesling, Gewürztraminer, Pinot Gris, and Sémillon.
