Estate Notes

Bollinger's Grande Annee Rosé is only released in 'great' years and yields from one harvest, and the 2007 vintage is a wonderful example of the ‘Burgundy-vinosity’ character at Bollinger.

For the Grande Annee, Bollinger selects its best wines from its crus and ferments them individually in oak casks prior to blending. The wine is aged for a minimum of five years in its bottle prior to release.

Established in the early 19th century by Jacques Bollinger and Paul Renaudin, Bollinger remains under the control of the wider family and is synonymous with rich, complex, classic Pinot Noir dominated Champagnes with great aging potential. Around 75% of Bollinger’s grapes are harvested from its own vineyards to ensure quality.

Reviews

"Fragrant, with notes of chalk and spring blossom on the nose, this fresh and focused version offers a finely detailed, lacy palate of white raspberry, peach skin, toast and candied ginger flavors. Long and creamy on the spice- and smoke-laced finish." Wine Spectator

“Given the house's connection to Bond, 007 sounds like a brilliant Bollinger vintage. Normally, I'm not so fond of the vintage's correct, but somewhat neutral character. I remember that major investments were made by the house at this time and the results are excellent. In my world, this is one of the most surprising vintages from the small boutique house in Aÿ. From the start, this rosé reminds us of the great vintages in the 80's, when the house style was more nutty and smoky than later years, somewhat easier and peachy creations. Tasted next to a Vieilles Vignes Francaises of extra-terrestrial eminence from the same year, the wine stood well with a huge poise and power in a rich burgundy style. The aromas are dominated by dried roses, blood orange, forest mushroom, leather and hazelnut cream.” Richard Juhlin
