Estate Notes

Auntsfield's outstanding single vineyard Pinot Noir 2013 was rated 4th out of 76 Marlborough Pinot Noirs by Bob Campbell.

The wine is only harvested by family members. The care, attention and devotion shines through in the grapes (and wine), which were hand-harvested, hand-sorted, gently destemmed and gravity-fed to tank where careful hand plunging was utilised to gently extract flavours and tannins from the skins, before being aged in French oak barriques for approximately 10 months.

The 2013 season was characterised by naturally low yields and warm settled weather with very little rainfall. Autumn produced cool and settled conditions which were some of the best seen in many years. This ripened small berried Pinot Noir with near perfect small to medium sized bunches.

Reviews

“Big, rich and strongly fruit-focused Pinot Noir with ripe Black doris plum, dark cherry, blackcurrant, vanilla, liquorice and spicy oak flavours with a seasoning of spice. Delicious now but with the potential to develop greater complexity in the years ahead." Bob Campbell

“Pale to medium ruby-purple in color, the 2013 Single Vineyard Pinot Noir offers notes of black cherries, black raspberries and underbrush with hints of anise and violets. Medium-bodied, the palate exhibits superb balance with a good amount of finely grained tannins and just enough acidity to support the ample cherry and earth flavors, finishing long.” eRobertParker.com

Dark cherry, blackberry and Doris plum aromas complimented by savoury aromas of dark chocolate, forest floor, cigar box and floral notes. Rich, silky texture, full and concentrated, with spice, dark fruit, savoury characters and fine tannin structure. Tight structure, yet rich and full with seamless length.
