Estate Notes

Antico Podere Gagliole, ‘Pecchia’ Rosso 2003 is in good condition and comes in its original wrappers.

Gagliole is a gem of a Tuscan estate, owned by the husband and wife team Monika and Thomas Bär (a Swiss banker and lawyer and gallery manager respectively), who were seduced by the Tuscan countryside back in 1990. The beautiful estate covers 30 hectares; of these, 8 of which are under vine, sited at 500 metres, which brings freshness to their wines.

The Pecchia is matured for 18 months in French oak barrels and an additional year in the bottle. It is a single-varietal Sangiovese only made in the finest growing years.

Reviews

“Superconcentrated with licorice, tar and blackberry on the nose. Full-bodied and very silky, with masses of fruit. It's cashmere. Pure Sangiovese.” James Suckling
