Achaval Ferrer's Altamira 2014 is a single vineyard (finca) red and one of the estate's premium labels

Fruit for the Altamira is grown on the prestigious slopes of the Altamira mountain, where low yields from old vines (80 years old) impart concentrated red and black fruit flavours, floral elements, spice and minerality. It is always rich, fresh, opulent, complex and absolutely compelling, and in 2014 the weather leant itself to an even more elegant, refined style.

Achaval Ferrer was established in 1998 by a group of Italian/Argentine friends who wanted to deliver high quality wines that showcased the country’s great soils and climate for vine growing, moving away from its reputation for mainly mass-market wines. It has now grown to be one of Argentina’s finest wine producers with a brilliant winemaking team, including legendary Tuscan winemaker Roberto Cipresso, and highly regarded for its limited production wines which are made in the vineyard, not the cellar.
