Weingut Turk's Kremser Sandgrube Gruner Veltliner 2014 yields from the Kremser Sandgrube vineyards (dating back to 1215). It is a wonderful white wine style once overlooked, but now en vogue. If you have turned away from Grüner Veltliner (or Austrian) labels in the past, now is the perfect opportunity to see what all the fuss is about.
Weingut Türk has been sweeping the board in Austria with outstanding results. The Falstaff, Austria’s leading wine magazine, awarded this cuvée the Grand Prix 2014 (from a field of 90 wines). The grapes were picked by hand a little later than the norm to acquire extra ripeness and concentration, and fermented in stainless steel for maximum freshness.
