Saint-Émilion & Pomerol, 1987

1987 was an average Bordeaux vintage, which favoured Merlot over Cabernet Sauvignon.

Heavy rainfall disrupted the Cabernet Sauvignon harvest, and many producers used more Merlot than average in their blends resulting in early approachable, soft and fruity wines. The Graves was the most successful appellation on the left bank, Pomerol fared best on the right bank.
