Rhône Valley, 1991

1991 was an average Rhône vintage, the north faring the best. A long, warm summer was largely erased by a wet September that caused considerable rot.

The Mistral helped keep rot away in the north and there were some good wines, though generally lacking in weight and structure. The south was hit by torrential rains and plenty of rot. Quality was patchy.
