Rhône Valley, 1987

1987 was an average Rhône vintage due to a wet summer. A dry September saved the vintage for the north, while the south suffered greatly from disease and rot.

Côte Rôtie was by far the best appellation in the north. The south was less fortunate, as the damp summer provoked disease, insect infestation and rot. Châteauneuf was the pick of the south, though quite light and for early consumption.
