Red Burgundy, 2009

2009 was an excellent red Burgundy vintage across all vineyards – from the most famous to the most humble – it was big on quantity and quality. Open, accessible with delicious ripe fruit, the 2009 Pinot Noirs are fresh and charming in their youth. A very seductive, if not the most complex of vintages.

2009 produced a glut of healthy, ripe grapes courtesy of a glorious summer from mid-July onwards, which saw constant warm, yet not excessively high, temperatures, while several storms provided sufficient moisture. The harvest took place in early September, earlier than average as growers were worried about losing acidity.
