New Zealand, 2013

2013 was an excellent New Zealand vintage and a bumper crop of ripe, healthy exceptional fruit. Conditions couldn’t have be more different than 2012 and with the exception of Marlborough many wine regions experienced drought, whereas Marlborough benefitted from long hours of sunshine, yet not excessive high daytime temperatures and cool nights. Pinot Noir is floral and aromatic with great concentration and structure in the North Island and Marlborough. Pinot Gris, Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay were standouts in Marlborough, with Sauvignon showing its trademark kiwi opulence and tropical fruits.
