Australia, 2010

2010 was an excellent vintage in South Australia, Victoria and Western Australia, with just the right amount of heat and rainfall (which broke a long, suffering drought) to produce perfectly ripe fruit with great phenolic levels.

The reds were rich and concentrated. It was a mixed vintage in New South Wales, which experienced uneven ripening due to heavy rains.

“Deep garnet-purple in colour, the 2010 Astralis is still quite primary, eliciting aromas of black plums, blueberry compote, and blackcurrant liqueur with a savoury and baking spice undercurrent, plus a fragrant whiff of violets.” eRobertParker.com
