1991 was a shocker due to a late spring frost, heavy rain and subsequently very low yields.
Many Saint-Emilion and Pomerol châteaux declassified their wines. Producers on the left bank who selected rigorously made the best of a very difficult year. The Graves, which was least affected by the frost, was the pick of a very small bunch – with some light, attractive wines.
