Estate Notes

Of all the single vineyard Quinta ports, Vargellas stands out. A great value.

Taylor’s vintage Ports are renowned for their massive structure, concentration of flavour and distinctively masculine style. This great Port house is also renowned for being amongst the longest lived of all ports.

Taylor's, which remains an independent family-run business since its inception around 300 years ago, is also the market brand leader. It is one of the earliest shippers to acquire vineyards to produce the wine themselves, rather than merely buying from winemakers and then maturing it, thus ensuring a name synonymous with quality.

"Recent Vargellas vintages from Taylors have been the fabuously intense 1995, the soft, figgy 1998 and now the lively berry like 2001...violets and tobacco leaves on the nose, great depth of fruit with freshness and spice. Very much in vintage style. Decanter Magazine

"...bright, charcoaly, dark fruit character. The palate is creamy and rich, and full of grip, flavour and substance. Although approachable now with time in the decanter, and in fact quite delicious." The Wine Doctor
