Château Palmer

Château Palmer is a quintessentially beautiful château sited on the outskirts of the village of Margaux.

Palmer is named after the Englishman, Major-general Charles Palmer, who settled in Bordeaux in the early 19th century after the Napoleonic wars, and it is now under the control of Franck Mähler-Besse, the son of a Dutch immigrant.

Palmer is second only to Château Margaux itself on Margaux's quality ladder and its highly sought-after wines are far superior than its third growth status suggests. Palmer is planted with an unusually high percentage of Merlot for the Margaux commune, which accounts for over 40% of the blend and hence its similarities with the great wines of Bordeaux’s Merlot-dominated right bank.

“This is super for a second wine. Fantastic aromas of chocolate, berry and coffee. Yet very classy and subtle. Full-bodied, with a reserved rich and caressing texture. Loads of ripe and wonderful fruit in this." Wine Spectator
