Estate Notes

Penfolds St Henri Shiraz 1998 is part of Penfolds 'Icon and Luxury Range' - a traditional style first created in the early 1950s, and unlike Penfolds Grange it does not use new oak. Another wine with a long history that continues to excite year after year.

The St Henri is characterised by its rich, plush texture when young, gaining soft, earthy, mocha-like characters as it ages. The small proportion of Cabernet in the blend is used to provide structure.

“The 1998 Shiraz St. Henri is a delicious dark ruby-colored effort with a sweet nose of jammy black fruits intermixed with herbs, earth, and pepper. Perfumed, medium-bodied, and succulent.” Robert Parker

"Medium red-purple; the moderately intense bouquet has, as one would expect, good fruit and oak balance and integration; strong blackberry fruit provides the ripe core of the palate, which has a quite savoury finish and tannins to provide ample structure. A great example of St Henri.” James Halliday
