Mas Blanc is a legendary estate, not just of the Roussillon but in all France, whose red and white Collioure and port-like Banyuls have been served at the great restaurants of France for two generations.
The Parcé family has been the standard bearer in this small, ancient area on France’s Mediterranean border with Spain. While the domaine’s wines are correspondingly expensive, owner Jean-Michel, having raised the table wines of the estate to new levels of excellence, has for the first time made a vin de pays from old vine Macabeu – an astonishing success for a variety that is often over-cropped. A revelation!
And as you can see from the label Jean Michel is very proud of his son Thomas! Reviews..Aromatically focused, deep and expressive, with notes of wild herbs, white fruits, honey, almonds and citrus peel. Delicious balance, ripe and fresh, with lively intensity, creamy fruit and minerality, fine acidity and a hint of pear eau de vie. A long finish with notes of honey and blanched almonds, yet dry and mineral. |
