Estate Notes

Domaine La Croix Canat is Tinel-Blondelet's very special 10 hectare parcel of Sancerre produced using organic methods in the Loire commune of Thauvenay.

Les Blancs Gâteaux refers to the white flints that cover the limestone slopes of La Croix Canat that gives this sassy Sancerre its deliciously dry flinty character. And winemaker Annick remains true to her wonderful terroir. This type of soil enables the production of a bright pale golden wine with green highlights. Dry and fruity with real finesse. This really is top class Sancerre, with great depth of gooseberry fruit married perfectly with minerality and fine acidity to balance.

Six generations of the Blondelet family have upheld the winemaking tradition at Pouilly-sur-Loire, and since the 1980s it has been Annick Tinel-Blondelet who has furthered the tradition on the best terroirs of the Sancerre and Pouilly appellations incorporating modern techniques while respecting the terroir and creating authentic Loire whites.

Reviews

Lovely traditional Sancerre Sauvignon. Minerally with gunflint aromas. The palate is complex and impressive, mixing zesty fruit, tropical nuances and a ripe fruit core, plus some smokiness, striking minerality and a fine balance to finish.
