Estate Notes

Jean-Luc Fourrey and his sister Marie are the fourth generation and driving force behind this exciting, emerging producer, marrying traditional and modern techniques on the quality stony slopes of the Côte de Lechet. It is no surprise that in just over a decade Fourrey has emerged as one of the best producers in Chablis. An exciting, up-and-coming venture – and an estate to watch.

In 2012 minerality, acidity and ripeness are in perfect harmony, giving a butteriness to the wines without losing mineral focus. Under the assured guidance of Jean-Luc and his sister Marie Jo, this estate looks set for a very bright future.

By contrast with the expansive and lush characteristics of the finest white burgundies from the Côte d’Or, the wines of Chablis typically display a characteristic steely, stony, mineral content.

Reviews

“The young Jean-Luc Fourrey continues to make important strides in quality….I believe we will see further improvement in the years to come.” Burghound.com

Very attractive ripe, stone fruit characters on the nose, with lovely mineral balance and saline precision beneath - some spice, cardamom, ripe, buttery apple and pear notes. The palate is very fine with a ripe core continuing the stone fruit theme, with hints of vanilla, cardamom, and some lees-ageing evident, overlaying the balancing refined acidity provided by a citrus / green apple edge. A ripe yet refined minerally persistence round out this impressive Chablis 1er Cru.
