Estate Notes

The Perrin brothers, the current owners of this 100 hectare estate, do not employ chemical fertilisers, preferring to use a compost made on the property from a mixture of sheep manure and the previous year's pressings (marc) which helps to maintain the soil's own natural equilibrium.

Each grape variety, and there are plenty of them, is vinified separately to preserve their own highly individualistic characteristics. But if you think that is hard work, there then follows an intellectually-inspired piece of winemaking where juice from each variety is tasted and blended to maximise the quality of each specific vintage.

"Deep garnet colour with a faint touch of brick in the rim. Classic Beaucastel earthy/meaty/gamey nose with an undercurrent of stewed strawberries, Chinese dried plums and soy. Quite elegant on the palate with a medium to full body and a reasonably taut structure of medium to high acidity and a medium level of velvety tannins. Layer upon layer of spices and savoury flavours."
