Estate Notes

Château d'Yquem 1997 is in pristine condition.

Yquem is, without doubt, one of the world's finest wines, of whom Robert Parker comments: "There is no other wine in the world like it, and there is no other luxury wine that can possibly justify its price as much as Yquem. The remarkable amount of painstaking labor necessary to produce the nectar known as Yquem is almost impossible to comprehend."

There is no rush to drink d'Yquem, especially the 1997 vintage which requires patience in the bottle, but when you can resist the temptation no more we would recommend that you serve it alongside a foie gras or oyster starter, or with a fine blue cheese such as Roquefort (which has its own a.o.c.!). Several top international chefs have also partnered the world's finest dessert wine with sole and lobster dishes.

"The 1997's light gold color is accompanied a gorgeous perfume of caramel, honeysuckle, peach, apricot, and smoky wood. Full-bodied and unctuously-textured, with good underlying acidity as well as loads of sweetness and glycerin, it looks to be a great vintage for this renowned Sauternes estate."
