Estate Notes

Château Bastor-Lamontagne’s 2005 comes from an excellent year for sweet Bordeaux, producing Sauternes of great concentration and fine acidity to balance.

Bastor-Lamontagne is also an excellent introduction to the world famous Sauternes style - matured in small oak barriques (25% new) for 15 months - and packed with lusciously sweet, honeyed fruit (from 35-year-old vines) - it’s a real opportunity to taste a great vintage at a great price.

"...very good fruit in the mouth, with a lovely racy pear character and big, luscious mouthfeel with bright orangy acidity. Botrytis is only moderate, but plenty of concentration. 89/90." Tom Cannavan,

"Lots of caramel and apple aromas follow through to a full-bodied palate, with medium sweetness and a long finish. All in finesse." Wine Spectator

Balanced with good concentration, minerality and acidity. Fresh, sweet and not cloying. Soft white fruits with background minerality leads into a vibrant, fresh palate.
