Tamellini, Recioto di Soave Vigna Marogne (50cl), 2007

D.O.C.G. Recioto di Soave, Veneto, Italy

Tamellini’s Recioto di Soave is an unctuous, beautifully balanced sweet wine made from the estate’s finest grapes.

The grapes are dried on racks for four to six months to concentrate the natural sugars before pressing. It is an ancient style of wine and can be traced back to the 5th century, when the Roman writer and statesman Cassiodorus described a sweet white wine from Verona similar to Recioto. The term recioto is derived from the Italian word for the ear (orecchio), which the shrivelled grapes are said to resemble.

Reviews..

"Tamellini is an excellent source for generous, richly-flavored Soaves that also deliver superb value for the money. The wines are made with the assistance of consulting oenologist Paolo Caciorgna. The estate certainly seems to be getting the most of its hillside vineyards, which are planted exclusively with the indigenous Garganega." eRobertParker.com
