Smith Woodhouse 1970 Vintage Port comes from an excellent Port vintage - characteriesd by harmonious wines of great fruit intensity.
Smith Woodhouse Ports have outstanding length and structure and are drier than most. Its Vintage Ports show a characteristic opulent rich style, balanced by firm hard tannins. Ageing gives these wines an unmatched elegance.
Smith Woodhouse was founded in 1784 by Christopher Smith, who was the Lord Mayor of London, to ship Port from the Douro in 1784. Some years later the Woodhouse brothers joined him. Since 1970, Smith Woodhouse has been owned by the Symington family, Port producers since the 19th century.
Please note - no labels - vintage identified by capsule - otherwise good condition.
Fills are in neck or base of neck. Reviews.."An example of how this house's young wines lose their hard edge and become elegant and racy. Medium ruby with a red edge, complex, perfumed cherry aromas, medium-bodied, with silky tannins and a lovely balanced of very elegant fruit flavors." Wine Spectator (1989) |
