Pirie is one of Australia’s most highly acclaimed sparkling wines. In fact, Matthew Jukes, voted the most influential wine writer in the UK, declared Pirie as the greatest sparkling wine outside of Champagne! Pirie produces sparkling wine of cool climate elegance, capturing the regional character of the White Hills district just south of the city of Launceston. A wine of finesse, balance and harmony, it really is beautifully crafted. Pirie is located in the relatively cool limes of northern Tasmania in the stunning Tamar Valley. The estate was established by Dr Andrew Pirie, who is putting his PhD in viticulture into what he considers to be as one of the truly great wine regions of the world. Dr Pirie, who also founded the widely known Pipers Brook vineyard, has had an integral role in securing Tasmania's postion in the limelight down under and his sparkling wine really is top drawer. Reviews..“This is a brilliant blend of of the Champagne grapes, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir with toasty flavours and creamy mousse.” Anthony Rose, The Independent “Pale colour; focused and fresh lemon fruit and spring blossom bouquet; generous and creamy mouthfeel, with linear acidity and well-handled dosage; very good focus.” James Halliday |
