Paul Jaboulet Aîné, Hermitage La Chapelle, 1999

A.O.C. Hermitage, Rhône, France

Paul Jaboulet Aîné's Hermitage La Chapelle 1999 is robust, yet elegant; bearing the hallmarks of Northern Rhône greats.

Jaboulet is very much a family affair and has been for around 150 years. At present seven Jaboulets control the marketing, finance and winemaking for 28 different wines drawn from 90 hectares that include almost all of the prestigious appellations in the northern half of the Valley.

Hermitage La Chapelle is the estate’s flagship wine drawn from 40-year-old Syrah vines from the steep, sun-drenched southfacing vineyards around a 13th century chapel of Saint Christophe at the top of Hermitage hill.

Tasting Notes..

The powerful, generous and plump 1999 boasts tarry red fruits and chocolatey notes on the nose. Deep, concentrated, luscious mouthfeel with spiced red and black fruits, chocolate and tobacco. Massively impressive structure, complemented by fine, velvety tannins.
