Despite only being given its current name a decade ago, Lenzini boasts a history to rival most. The estate was owned in Renaissance times by the Arnolfini family (associated with the portrait by Jan Van Eyck in London’s National Gallery), and was given to Napoleon’s sister, Elisa in 1805 as part of the Principality of Lucca and Piombino. Tasting Notes..Fresh red fruits, cherry and plum on the nose, with toasted spice and coffee and mineral base notes. Beautifully ripe fresh fruit on the palate, balanced, juicy and generous, with richly textured tannins, torrefied spice and pleasing minerality: a remarkable combination of freshness and torrefaction. Reviews.."The little-known, but up-and-coming DOC of Colline Lucchesi is near Lucca. This Merlot has a sense of delicate refinement on the nose, with pretty pastille fruit and a hint of minerality. The palate has a real precision and focus." thewinegang.com "He is dynamic, zippy, a bundle of nerves with bright, jumpy eyes and the gift of the gab; she is blonde and petite, unperturbed, though below the surface she can hardly hide the great passion which animates her daily work. They are Michele Guarino and Benedetta Tronci Lenzini, husband and wife, and, since 2006, owners and managers of the beautiful Tenuta Lenzini, set in the green Tuscan hills in the province of Lucca." WINECOUNTRY.IT "Lenzini is one of the emerging new wineries in the Lucca area." Gambero Rosso 2010 |
