Lagneau's 2009 Régnié comes from a knockout 2009 Beaujolais vintage, producing rich structured reds and in the case of Lagneau, finesse too. Lagneau is the pre-eminent producer of fine quality Régnié – a serious Beaujolais style, with concentrated redcurrant, raspberry fruits and underlying minerality. The Régnié vines have an average age of 55 years, giving low yields of well concentrated and balanced fruit – a truly gastronomic expression of the Gamay grape to accompany red meats and light game, but supple and enticing enough to enjoy on its own. Gérard and Jeannine Lagneau are a wonderful welcoming couple – with Jeannine’s youthful, light-hearted manner offset by the more reserved and serious Gérard, who no doubt saves his energy for his six o’clock starts in the vineyard. And they do say that wines reflect the winemaker! Tasting Notes..Lashings of lovely red and black fruit aromas. The palate is creamy and juicy with a super texture and packed with berry fruit flavours such as blackcurrant and cherry. Lagneau's Régnié has super vinosity but also vitality keeping everything fresh and in check. Very moreish, very good Beaujolais. Reviews.."…how about delicious 2009s that are stuffed full of fruit, cost well under £15 a bottle and are actually delicious to drink? …These are stupendous wines - but for early drinking rather than keeping..." Jancis Robinson MW "...the 2009 Beaujolais are gloriously generous and genuinely complex, as fine as any wines from this region in recent memory." eRobertParker.com |
