Lagneau's Côte de Brouilly 2009 is a brilliant old vines Beaujolais - rich and concentrated - an absolute knock-out!
The 2009 Beaujolais vintage was a knckout, producing rich wines with structure and certainly in the case of Lagneau's Brouilly, finesse as well. Could this vintage mark the start of the Beaujolais rennaissance?
Domaine Lagneau own arguably the best patch of vineyards in the whole of the Côte de Brouilly. This serious classy cru Beaujolais comes from just 1.5 acres and Lagneau produce structured wines with balance and finesse from old vines. There is a purity and mineral dimension in these wines sadly lacking in the more commercial efforts from the region. Tasting Notes..Concentrated black fruits and macerated cherry on the nose with coffee and stony mineral notes in addition. The palate is packed with chewy, crunchy dark berry fruits with a lovely rich texture. Balance, vitality and focus with a super appetising, moreish finish. An absolute delight and an impressive showing for sure. Reviews.. “…the 2009 Beaujolais are gloriously generous and genuinely complex, as fine as any wines from this region in recent memory.
"…unless you are already very familiar with today's Beaujolais scene, I'm going to bet that there are wines being turned out here that will – if you reach-out – become among your closest vinous companions and indispensable at your dinner table." eRobertParker.com
"...how about delicious 2009s that are stuffed full of fruit, cost well under £15 a bottle and are actually delicious to drink? These are stupendous wines - but for early drinking rather than keeping..." Jancis Robinson MW |
