Lagneau’s amazing 90-year-old-vines produce wines of finesse and concentration with the classic blackcurrant note typical of the blue schiste soils in the Côte de Brouilly.
Lagneau is a typical small Beaujolais producer, known as a vignéron-récoltant – selling part of their wine under their own label – and the remainder to négociants.
The Côte de Brouilly tends to produce deeply concentrated wines, from grapes grown on the higher slopes of the extinct volcano, Mont Brouilly, situated within the larger Brouilly cru. Côte de Brouilly wines from the higher slopes tend to be more deeply concentrated, fruitier and less earthy than Brouilly itself, mainly because of greater exposure to the sunlight.
Tasting Notes..Perfumed and intense – fleshy, plum, currant and berry fruits with a delightful floral note of pink carnations. Very attractive on the palate with floral high notes and a concentrated core of cherry and currant fruit flavours. Very pure, refined and concentrated on the finish. |
