The Jim Barry ‘Armagh’ is derived from the Irish settlers who arrived in 1849 and named the lush rolling hill (the vineyard for this premium Shiraz) after their homeland. Situated in the cool uplands of the North Mount Lofty ranges north of Adelaide, the vineyards of Jim Barry were established in 1959. This is a family run winery committed to producing quality wines through an innovative approach to viticulture and winemaking technology. The late Jim Barry was a pioneer of the Australian wine industry and today the company is headed by Jim’s second son Peter. Reviews.."An outstanding winery regularly producing wines of exemplary quality and typicity…a spotlessly clean yet very concentrated bouquet with ripe blackberry and plum fruit introduces a massively concentrated wine, crammed with black fruits, supplemented by well-balanced tannins and generous but not excessive oak." James Halliday MW "The high octane Shiraz cuvee called The Armagh is one of the finest examples from Clare Valley, as well as South Australia. Rich and dense…" eRobertParker.com "Sometimes it takes longer than a lifetime to do a lifetimes work… its now up to my children." Jim Barry (1925-2004) |
