Henschke Mount Edelstone Shiraz 1998 is 100% Shiraz sourced from a vineyard planted in 1912 - packed with concentration, history and tradition.

Henschke is regarded as the best medium-sized red wine producer in Australia, and has gone from strength to strength over the past three decades under the guidance of winemaker Stephen and viticulturist Prue Henschke.

The red wines fully capitalise on very old, low-yielding, high-quality vines from the Eden Valley and are superbly made with sensitive but positive use of small new oak barrels.

"Medium red-purple; a fragrant and aromatic bouquet with spicy overtones to the berry and leaf fruit leads into a palate where spice, berry, cherry, leaf and mint are all present in abundance. The oak has been perfectly controlled throughout, and the wine finishes with excellent, fine tannins.

"Made entirely from shiraz grown on the Mount Edelstone Vineyard, planted in the 1920s and acquired by Henschke in 1974, although the wine was first made (and labelled as such) in 1952.
