Fondreche, Fayard, 2009

A.O.C. Côtes du Ventoux, Rhône, France

Fondreche’s Fayard 2009 has been rated two points higher than the 2008 vintage by Robert Parker, and is on a quality par with the much heralded 2007 vintage.

So if you are a fan of the southern Rhône greats - without the price tag – then the brand new Fayard has all the harmony, seduction and sheer drinking pleasure to wow your tastebuds.

Winemaker Sebastien Vincenti’s loves his terroir and believes that his vines are stronger when treated naturally, including 100% organic manure, no chemcial herbicides, and complimentary planting between rows to prevent erosion, promote microbial life and aerate of the soil.

Reviews..

"Dark crimson. Very meaty and layered – so much flavour for the penny! Heady and round and superripe but no excess of sweetness nor alcohol. Zesty – even a hint of citrus peel. Great stuff! Minerals." Jancis Robinson MW

"A blend of 50% Grenache and the rest Syrah, Mourvedre and Carignan, the 2009 Cotes du Ventoux Fayard is outstanding. A gorgeous perfume of spring flowers, blue and red fruits and kirsch liqueur is followed by an elegant, dense, deep ruby/purple-colored wine with medium to full body, abundant fruit, good underlying acidity and a cool climate style." eRobertParker.com (Oct 2010)
