Corte Sant’ Alda’s Amarone is a very individual style of Italian wine from a highly acclaimed winemaker.

Marinella Camerani is a meticulous winemaker with a growing international reputation, and the leading Italian wine guide, Gambero Rosso, awarded her the ‘Grower of the year’ in 2009.

The Amarone is made using grapes from certified organic vineyards around 400 meters above sea level that have been left to dry - producing a rich, fullbodied style and a fabulous match with red meats, game stews, wild boar and venison.

Superb nose with lovely complex aromatics, such as cherries in brandy, rosehip and dark berry fruits. The palate is beautifully textured with layers of dark broody fruit, attractive vitality and mineral notes in addition. The tannins are youthful and savoury but not aggressive. From time to time the wine’s inner sweetness makes an appearance, but this remains a reticent Amarone in need of significant bottle age. Smoke, tar and ash add further complexity on the long, building finish.
