Churchill's LBV 2003 port is a lovely medium-bodied LBV port style made from Top A grade grapes from the 2003 vintage. Wonderfully fresh with a good dollop of concentrated berries gained from extended time in oak vat and charming violet nuances - seductive and appealingl. Late bottle vintage ports are aged for longer in barrel than vintage ports and this increased oxidation makes them ready for drinking earlier than vintage ports (usually being ready on bottling), and offer a chance to taste wine from a single port vintage but at a much keener price than vintage ports. Churchill's is an independent port house established by Johnny Graham who formerly worked at Cockburn's and consulted for Taylor's. When he decided to set up his own port company, he could not really name it after himself (Graham's) and so the name 'Churchill's' is derived from his wife's maiden name. Reviews..“A very fresh LBV, with violet, berry and cherry character. Medium-bodied and medium sweet, with a fresh fruit aftertaste. Delicious. Drink now." Wine Spectator |
