L'Eglise Clinet is one of the least known of Pomerol estates due to its size, yet ranks amongst the finest estates of Pomerol. Its vines (averaging 40 years old) produce typically fat, juicy Bordeaux wines of uncommon generosity.
Winemaker Denis Durantou, who has been making wine here since 1982, has brought l'Eglise Clinet to the pinnacle of Pomerol producers with consistently stunning wines, yet you wouldn’t know it from his jovial, engaging, down-to-earth attitude.
Gazing across Denis' vines to the iconic Pomerol church, his château is set in absolute peace and tranquility (a quaint, walled cemetery being his neighbour!), and it is easy to see why he has become so attached to this boutique estate on Pomerol's plateau. Reviews.."Truly gorgeous. Rich and thick yet refined and precise. Crushed raspberry and berry character rises from the glass. Full-bodied, with loads of fruit, fine tannins and an extremely long finish." Wine Spectator (Jan 2001) |
